I met Steve at an open jam and before either of us realized it we'd be talking all night, about music, life, everything else. Just as the jam was ending and we were parting ways. Steve mentioned he'd been playing the Lindsey Buckingham parts in a Fleetwood Mac tribute (for the past 11 years!), and I think I literally screamed when I heard this. I have a huge appreciation for tribute acts in general, but I also love Fleetwood Mac, have seen dozens of Fleetwood Mac tribute acts around the continent, and used to sing backing vocals in a Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks tribute in California. I was super surprised I had never seen or herd of Steve's band! He also mentioned that he repairs guitars and specializes in electronics, and at the time my ukulele's built-in pickup needed repairing, so we exchanged contact info.
A week later, his band 'Practically Petty and Fleetwood Nicks' played at the CNE, and Steve invited me down to watch them. I carried my busted ukulele along with me, not sure what I was in for, and I was completely blown away. The band was fantastic, and Steve NAILED IT playing the Lindsey parts. I thought, how lucky would I be if this guy would play music with me? It wasn't long before I found out he was thinking the same thing about me. He asked "what do I have to do to get you to sing with me?" and I replied, "oh, that's easy, just play the guitar".
That night Steve and I made a pact that we were going to play music together, effective immeditely, and two weeks later we played our first show (with my newly-repaired ukulele, thanks to Steve!).
Every step of the way was so easy, it felt like we'd known eachother for years, and everything we played was so fantastically well received. When we got together and rehearsed, people in neighbouring units wrote to say they overheard us and that they couldn't believe how good it sounded. During our first show, we got booked to play a wedding by a couple in the crowd that neither of us had ever met, and another person we didn't know was so moved by it that he started pulling in strangers off the street because he said "you need to hear this". At every jam and open mic we attend, people are floored, "How did you two meet!? You sound amazing!"
So neither of us are really sure how, but it seems like playing music together is simply something we need to do.
So here we are!
Luckily there is noting either of us love more than playing music and we're having a huge amount of fun doing it!
We are available for bookings June 15th - November 15th each year!
